Let it snow, Let it snow! This Boston wants snow!

Its December 6th and we just got Basil’s new Chilly Dog sweater in the mail. Its absolutely perfect and fits him like a dream. It has a cute little hood that keeps his puppy dog ears warm. Now all we need is a little bit of snow!

Currently in the Carolinas we have been experiencing some serious warm temps with the high being 75 degrees today! (Seriously?!) Basil and I are just hoping for some cooler days so he can show the world how cute he is in his new sweater. For now he will just get to look adorable in the house and on Monday when he gets to meet Santa. Check back everyday for your daily BT advent calendar picture and on Tuesday to find out how it went with Santa!

Basils Favorite Things – LeLePets & Good Day Dog

Basil has been asking for a lot of things this Christmas but when he heard about this he totally back tracked and told me this is what he truly wanted! This Basil’s favorite things is going to be a twofer, LeLePets & Good Day Dog.

LeLePets is an awesome Groupon-esk site but for dog products. They have short sales on anything from dog toys to beds to collars. Every day you get a new email about that days newest sales and the latest was about Good Day Dog. Photo from

Good Day Dog is similar to BarkBox in the fact that you sign up for a subscription and each month you pet gets a mystery box in the mail. With Good Day Dog instead of receiving a box filled with dog treats or plush toys they send a new hip dog collar. Photo from

For a dog like Basil this is perfect! He’s hip, stylish and gets a lot of attention when we are out and about. (Its because he may be one of the cutest dogs in the whole world…. in my personal opinion!) So he needs to look his best. Photo from

Not only do I love this idea but I adore their story. Joanna & her German Sheppard mix Zoey, turned their love for fashion and each other into a smashing business idea that I think we can all get behind.

Head over to LeLePets and sign up for the daily email deals and then check out the current deal, that ends on December 8th, on Good Day Dog 3 month subscription. Also, if you like my blog check out the GDD blog also for cute photos, silly stories and all things dog.

Happy Wednesday December 4th! According to the song on the 4th day of Christmas you got 4 calling birds but I thought a Boston in a moose sweater was a little cuter!

We are getting really excited for our Christmas in Texas and we still need more stuff to do on our road trip down there. Check out the post, Christmas in the Southwest , to see where we are going to be and make sure to send in recommendations for where you want to see Basil visit!

Basil’s Favorite Things – Hotel Max & Hotel Lucia

This Friday we want to talk about our favorite pet friendly hotel. Hotel Max in Seattle, WA and Hotel Lucia in Portland, OR are part of the same boutique hotel chain in and around the pacific northwest. Both are not only our favorite pet friendly hotel but our favorite all time US hotels. Beautifully decorated and in the heart of both cities you really couldn’t ask for more. Once you walk up to the front desk you and your furry friend are completely taken care of. The rooms are decked out with a heavenly bed, amazing art and everything you need to relax. For your pet they pull out all the stops; a dog bed, food bowls, a toy and treats.

We have stayed at Hotel Max a few times, Nate & I even got ready there for our 2012 wedding. Each time we stayed, with Basil or alone, the customer service was perfect. They did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. As for Hotel Lucia we first got to stay there after winning a pet photo contest on Facebook back in 2011. I stumbled across this contest when one of my friends commented on all the cute pet photos that were all over Hotel Lucia’s Facebook, so I thought I would throw my (or Nolan’s) hat into the ring. A few days later while out at dinner I casually checked my iPhone and found out some awesome news. We won! I was rather excited and loud (oops!) but luckily we were at one of our regular haunts and knew the staff so they just helped us celebrate! Below is the photo that brought home the win.

A few months later we traveled down to Portland and enjoyed a lovely May weekend in the city. Nolan couldn’t have had a better time! See example A!

I couldn’t say enough about how much we love both of these hotels and highly recommend you consider them or any of the Provenance Hotels. We will for sure be back, maybe we’ll see you there!

Basil’s Favorite Things – Cats!

Today Basil’s favorite thing is not something you can just order online and get delivered to your door in 2 days. It requires a little more of a commitment than a new collar and leash set and could be pretty costly. If Basil loves one thing more than anything, it’s his cats!

Basil is the proud “big” brother of two cats, Willow & Sebastian. Willow, our 11 year old 17 pounder, is the dominant force in this household. Basil and Willow have an understanding. He understands that she doesn’t want him in her face all the time and she understands that he understands this!

Our “kitten” is 3 year old Sebastian. Sebastian is one half of the crazy duo we like to call The Black & Whites. He loves Basil and doesn’t mind snuggling or being jumped from behind at the drop of the hat. I usually have to stop them from playing too rough almost every night.

Not only does Basil love his cats, he wants to play with every cat we come across on our daily walks. I have to remind him that these cats are not his and they don’t know that he isn’t going to hurt them. If we were to bring another cat home Basil would be overjoyed. Our cats, not so much!

Both Willow and Sebastian were adopted. Willow from the Tacoma Humane Society and Sebastian from a friend whose cat had a litter of unwanted kittens. We are big supporters of Humane Societies and encourage everyone to visit and consider adopting a pet from one of these places. If adopting a new pet isn’t something you can do right now please think about donating your time or money to your local humane society or animal control. You can also find more information about what you can do by visiting the ASPCA website.

Basil’s Favorite Things – Chilly Dog Sweaters

Its TGIF and you know what that means… Basil’s favorite things! This Friday, as the weather almost everywhere turns to full on fall we decided to share a long time Basil “must have.” The Chilly Dog sweaters are handmade in South America and 100% wool. They follow fair trade guidelines and give all the employees a fair wage. Not only do we love their company practices but their sweaters are top-notch.

From XS to XL these sweaters fit almost ever dog shape. For Basil, it’s almost impossible to find a well fitted sweater based on his broad chest and thick Boston neck. When we came across Chilly Dog a few years ago at our favorite pet store, All The Best Pet Care, we fell in love. The perfect cold weather dog sweater and every year they sold like hot cakes in Seattle. The first sign that it was going to be wet and cold for awhile we let Basil pick out a few of his favorites.

Right now, while we are traveling in the South, today was the first truly chilly day. I pulled out his moose sweater and slipped it right on. The thick wool and hood, with the most adorable moose ears warmed him right up. If you’re looking for a sweater for your four legged friend and may be having a hard time finding a good fit or just don’t want a prissy dog sweater make sure to check out the Chilly Dog website

So, today we are going to enjoy this brisk fall day without having to worry that my little guy is going to catch cold. Enjoy your weekend!
