A Snowy Evening walk

Well, they said 6 to 10 inches of snow… That didn’t happen! We woke up this morning to clear roads and little bits of snowy yards. But last night was beautiful!

Last night Nate, Basil, and I went and visited my parents and on the walk back we got to enjoy a true peaceful winter wonderland.

Although our dreams of a full blown snow day with hot chocolate and sledding down our hill didn’t happen, some snow is better than no snow!

Hope you are doing well! Stay warm, stay safe, and stay happy!

YouTube is for the dogs…

Hello friends! Hope everyone is enjoying their Tuesday! We woke up this morning with a light dusting of snow and a very cold house. Because of this, Basil and I have been snuggled under our electric blanket watching our “stories” on YouTube.

It occurred to me that I spend a lot of my time on YouTube. A lot of my favorite shows are online only and it so easy to have on when I work. Also if you are sad or down there is so many great little “pick me ups” to rise your spirits. It really has a little bit of everything!

Today I thought I would share just a few dog related videos that always make me smile.
Warning! Some of these videos contain adult language and silly adult behavior. If you have a strong opinion about either of those things or are a child, this post is not for you!

Ps. We are in the process of get Basil’s Youtube up and running. There will be a ton of new videos up soon. Until then you can head over to youtube.com/basilstravels for a few short silly Boston terrier themed videos.

A sorta snow day…

So last night and today the south and the east coast was hit with arctic temps and a mix of snow and ice. Although its been pretty cold here in North Carolina its nothing compared to what is happening in the Northeast. Places like Boston are getting hit super hard and have a ton of snow.

We woke up this morning with a thick layer of ice covering everything but little to no snow. This was probably a huge hassle for those who have to commute but for us work-from-homers it was a little be of a disappointment. We want snow! Fluffy beautiful snow! Enjoy these photos of our afternoon walk while I silently sing “Let it snow” to myself…

Baby its cold outside! Getting ready for Winter!

Where is this year going?! Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away and then its Christmas and before you know its 2015! We have been super busy getting ready for our upcoming Christmas trip to Texas as well as counting down the moments until Thanksgiving. On top of all of that its been really cold here! Basil has been wearing his Chilly Dog sweaters everyday for warmth but I started to worry about his little puppy paws. Last winter, when we got our Christmas tree and when we had our Valentine’s Day snow storm, Basil loved running around outside until his Boston terrier paw pads where so red mommy had to take him in.

We have talked about getting him some little dog booties in the past and even tried them on, with much resistance, but never committed to purchase. I felt now was the time, especially when we are traveling into the smoky mountains this weekend to chop down our 2014 Xmas tree.

Basil, Nate, and I took a trip to our local Petco in search of ridiculously cute boots for dogs. Oh, we found them! We decided on the Pup Crew Fall 2014 dark blue quilted zip dog shoes in size Large.Pup Crew 2014 Fall dog shoes

Basil is such a good sport and let me put these boots right on him in a flash, this time with little to no struggle.Pup Crew 2014 Dog shoes

Once his four paws hit the floor he was a little wary. As he “walked” around the house he  looked more like a prancing pony or bow-legged crazy than my normal happy go lucky dog. It took a little getting use to. We even had him wear them outside on a walk to Nana & Papa’s house. After a few minutes of that same silly gate Basil seem to understand what was going on and started to walk normally. I think he actually realized that his paws were warm and dry while outside and he liked that.

If you are looking for some affordable dog booties for your pet we highly recommend the Petco Pup Crew shoes. They are soft, warm, cute, and most important stay on your dogs paws! They come in a lot of colors and have nice rubber soles. You can check them out here or at your local Petco.

Hope everyone is staying warm and safe. What are your plains for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Let us know in the comments below.

The Southern Snowpocalypse Continues!

Another day, another few inches of snow and ice! The storm keeps on coming and although its a little hard to be snowed in, we have been having a lot of fun! Today Basil & neighbor Nelly ran around until his little toes just about froze off. While us two legged folks built an 8 foot tall snowman in the front yard!

Do your dog or cat love the snow? Let us know in the comments below! Also, I would love to see your photos. Send me you & your dogs snowpocalypse photos and I’ll make sure to share them right here on Basil’s Travels.

The Southern Snowpocalypse!

The weather is a little crazy around here. Its been snowing/sleeting all day and the temp keeps on dropping. I took the snow dog out to enjoy the winter wonderland before it got too insane and his BFF Jack decided to join us. They ran around and ate as much snow as they could before the cold caught up with Basil. He is currently curled up, staying warm, and watching this southern snowpocalypse from the safety of our bed.

Keep warm and safe out there!

First Snow Day of the Season!

Its finally snowing here in the South and we love the snow! I bundled Basil up the best I could and went out to enjoy the beginning of this snow storm.

Now we are cuddling in the nice warm house and watching the white stuff fall. If it is snowing you your neck of the woods make sure you are staying warm and safe when on the roads.

Thanks mother nature for the best birthday present Basil could of asked for!
