Basil’s Favorite Things — Brunch!

Hello all! Happy Monday! Hope your weekend was fun and/or productive. Basil, Nate, the cats, and I spend this last couple days hanging out at home. My husband had a lot of work to do so it was laundry, snuggles, food, sleep, and repeat for Basil and I.

We missed out on, what is an almost every weekend occurrence, brunch. For todays B.F.T I’m going to share a few of our families favorite dog-friendly brunch spots. If you don’t do the occasional brunch in your city, you really should! Grab your dog, check the weather, and hit up Google to find a great restaurant with a comfortable patio.

Here in North Carolina there are a few places that we regularly haunt. Check out the list below and if you are in the area make sure to hit them up. Not only are they dog-friendly but food is amazing! Also, I’ll include a few hot Seattle brunch spots for our friends and followers out that way!

Basil discovers the joy of mud!

Happy Monday everyone! This Monday started with a smile. Mostly because we had such a causal, fun, relaxing weekend. Saturday was spent at my parents yard sale and just hanging out with family. Yesterday, Sunday, was a hot one! We decided that Basil needed a little dog park time and headed to our favorite local park. Although it was hot outside the large trees at the park gave us some much needed shade while Basil and his newly made friends ran around like crazy.
After a few buckets of drinking water got turned over a nice, new mud hole appeared. I’ve never seen Basil interested in mud. I mean this is a dog that walks out of his way to avoid a puddle but today was different story. Once he realized that mud was cool on his hot belly our little black and white dog turned into our little brown dog!
Check out these photos and the video of Basil’s first adventure in mud! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen my dog this happy!

Basil loves mud! Basil loves mud! Basil loves mud! Basil loves mud! Basil before mud!

Hope you aren’t having a case of the Mondays! If you are just watch this video a couple of times… it will help!

Happiness is a rainy summer day in Asheville!

Its been a little stormy around these parts the last couple of days. We woke up Saturday morning and decided to embrace the cooler temperatures and “light” rain and head up into the smokey mountains for the day. We really didn’t have a plan but found ourselves in our favorite North Carolina city, Asheville. What we thought was just going to be a short stop for lunch and to pop are heads (and paws) into The Three Dog Bakery turned into a full day of shopping, eating, drinking, and socializing. Basil, like aways, had a lot of fun and made more than a few new friends.
Special thanks to Posana Cafe, The Southern, and Wicked Weed for giving us shelter from the rain and being beyond welcoming of Basil and his ever so slight wet dog smell!

Rainy dog days of summer! Rainy dog days of summer!Rainy dog days of summer! Rainy dog days of summer! Rainy dog days of summer!
Hope you are enjoying your Monday! Stay dry!

Hot dog loves hot dogs!

Its been a sunny weekend out in our neck of the woods so we decided to spend a little time outside. But because the BlogPaws 2014 conference is just a few days away, we have been really busy!

Nate, Basil, and I decided that a causal BBQ was just what the doctor ordered. The only hiccup in this plan… we don’t have a back yard! Well, that wasn’t going to stop us. We got out our mini BBQ, a few lawn chairs, and everything Basil may need for lounging outdoors. The next few hours were spent cooking, eating, and throwing the football around. A good time was had by all. I give you the “I don’t have a backyard… backyard BBQ!”

Now its time to get back to getting ready for our BlogPaws trip. We leave in 3 days! Vegas or bust!
