Baby its cold outside! Getting ready for Winter!

Where is this year going?! Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away and then its Christmas and before you know its 2015! We have been super busy getting ready for our upcoming Christmas trip to Texas as well as counting down the moments until Thanksgiving. On top of all of that its been really cold here! Basil has been wearing his Chilly Dog sweaters everyday for warmth but I started to worry about his little puppy paws. Last winter, when we got our Christmas tree and when we had our Valentine’s Day snow storm, Basil loved running around outside until his Boston terrier paw pads where so red mommy had to take him in.

We have talked about getting him some little dog booties in the past and even tried them on, with much resistance, but never committed to purchase. I felt now was the time, especially when we are traveling into the smoky mountains this weekend to chop down our 2014 Xmas tree.

Basil, Nate, and I took a trip to our local Petco in search of ridiculously cute boots for dogs. Oh, we found them! We decided on the Pup Crew Fall 2014 dark blue quilted zip dog shoes in size Large.Pup Crew 2014 Fall dog shoes

Basil is such a good sport and let me put these boots right on him in a flash, this time with little to no struggle.Pup Crew 2014 Dog shoes

Once his four paws hit the floor he was a little wary. As he “walked” around the house he  looked more like a prancing pony or bow-legged crazy than my normal happy go lucky dog. It took a little getting use to. We even had him wear them outside on a walk to Nana & Papa’s house. After a few minutes of that same silly gate Basil seem to understand what was going on and started to walk normally. I think he actually realized that his paws were warm and dry while outside and he liked that.

If you are looking for some affordable dog booties for your pet we highly recommend the Petco Pup Crew shoes. They are soft, warm, cute, and most important stay on your dogs paws! They come in a lot of colors and have nice rubber soles. You can check them out here or at your local Petco.

Hope everyone is staying warm and safe. What are your plains for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Let us know in the comments below.

Basil loves Halloween and he really can’t wait to put on his Spock costume and go trick or treating. A few of our neighbors even make home made dog treats and give them out to the cutest pups! I’ll post more photos and video as the day goes on. Make sure to keep everyone safe tonight and have a lot of fun! We would love to see your photos!

B is for Barktoberfest!

October means fall. The changing of the colors, the wearing of boots, scarfs, and hats, and Oktoberfest! In every city across the US this month there is a event celebrating our love if beer! Lucky for us Charlotte, NC has just one of those events but better!
Barktoberfest was this last Saturday October 18th at the fabulous Triple C Brewing Company in the Southend neighborhood of Charlotte.
It had copious amounts of beer, dogs in silly adorable Halloween costumes and great friends. This event hosted by Triple C Brewing Company, and Canine Cafe featured a mile walk to support cancer in humans and dogs as well as a silent auction, and doggie costume contest.
We had an amazing time. Basil made a lot if new friends and ran into some old ones. Enjoy some photos below, even though a few are a bit blurry. It just shows how much fun was had by all!

It was the 3rd day of October and my hipster gave to me…

… A manly Boston terrier in a blue floral scarf!
Basil is secure in his masculinity and loves to add floral into his wardrobe. This blue scarf (made by Juicy Couture. Okay, it may be mine…) is in honor of Blue Friday where ever 12th man, woman, and dog wears blue to support our Seattle Seahawks.

31 Days of Hipster Halloween!

If you have been to this blog before you have heard me say that every hipster worth their salt has a least on bow tie. Well, that also goes for scarfs!

For the whole month of October, everyday, Basil will be sporting a different scarf to celebrate fall and the coming of Halloween. Today’s scarf is a bright yellow cotton number. Basil knows he is totally pulling this off!October 1st - Yellow ScarfHappy day 1 of 31 days of hipster halloween!

Woofstock 2014

Happy Sunday Funday! Yesterday was Charlotte’s annual Woofstock event. This was the 2nd year Basil, Nate, and I attended and it was a lot of fun. We met a lot of new friends; big and small. It was at the Amos South venue in the Southend neighborhood of Charlotte. Benefitting Blue ridge boxer rescue and Great Dane friends of Ruff Love, so the event was filled to the gills with Great Danes and boxers. Basil loves his big dogs and couldn’t have been more happy. There was plenty of vendors and a huge silent auction. It was a good Saturday afternoon and we are happy to be able to support two great local rescues.

More great events coming up in the next few months! Can’t wait for what fall has to offer!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
