Freshpet Made me Do it! Contest time!

Hello internet friends! Happy Thursday! I think someone told Basil it’s almost the freakin’ weekend because he has been seriously crazy today. It started with breakfast and I’m sure it will continue until bedtime. Silly boy!

Sausage for everyone! Blogmas Day 6!

Last night was our first night in Austin, Texas and we started off with a bang or with a Banger!

  Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden located on the famed Rainey Street of Austin, Texas is a hipster Mecca. 104 beers on tap, most being local, and sausage for every taste. 
Walking by it may just look like an extremely busy residential neighborhood but go into almost any of these “houses” and you’ll find good food, good drink all in a dog friendly atmosphere. 

Banger’s was recommended to us by the Travel Channel show Booze Travel. The host Jack Maxwell explored the Austin food scene and sold us on Banger’s. 

I enjoyed a classic Bratwurst while Basil had his very own “woof-wurst.”  

All proceeds of Woof-wurst go to Austin Pets Alive.

All the sausages were a hit. Can you tell?! 

After we enjoyed dinner we headed deeper into the beer garden. Outside you’ll find a large fully fenced off-leash dog run, more tables, and 2 fire pits.   

People where friendly, the service was fast, and food was great. We highly recommend giving Banger’s a try if your in the Austin area.

Make it Monday! DIY Doggy Ice Block!

Its been a super hot summer so far. Even in Seattle we have been seeing temps of 90 to 100 at least once a week. For this Make it Monday! I thought I would make something that would help cool down the pups on these hot days. I call it, thanks to my sister-in-law, fruit chicken soup!

 What you need

  • A Tupperware container or bucket (I used a 7 quart Tupperware with a lid) 
  • Tap water
  • Chicken broth 
  • Dog friendly fruits & vegetables (I used blueberries, strawberries, and carrots.)
  • Freezer 

 First I filled the Tupperware half with tap water and half with chicken broth. Then I added chopped strawberries, and carrots as well as a cup and a half of fresh blueberries.

 The next step was to freeze over night. It may take longer or shorter depending on the size of container you choose.

This morning when we wake up the sun was shining and the mercury was already rising. I pulled the fruit chicken soup from the freezer and with a little help from the hot water tap I was able to pop out the ice block. I took it outside and Basil, and our housemates dogs, Luna, and Hank went to town.

Dogs love ice blocks!This was a serious success! I am very happy with the result and the dogs really enjoyed it.
I highly recommend doing this for your dog this summer. Feel free to add dog food, dog treats, and toys or whatever your dog prefers.

Have you ever tried your dogs treats?

Yeah, me neither! Although this is something I’ve thought about, mostly because some (and the key word here is SOME) of Basil’s food and treats smell delicious! Well, our internet friend  Jenna Marbles bit the dog treat “bullet” for us and taste tested a bunch of human grade dog treats! Check out the video below and be warned, its seriously funny!

Also, If you have a sensitive stomach or are easily offended by adult language maybe this video is not for you!
